Siân’s Memorial Fund
Our Memorial Fund was set up after the awful loss of our dear friend and Double Bass musician, Siân Chambers; a talented and popular musician in many orchestras, pit bands and musical activities throughout the County. She was also, along with her parents, Dave and Sara, a founder member of NMTO.
In December 2018, a tragic event left family, friends and fellow musicians devastated by the loss of Siân. Siân was an active and enthusiastic member of NMTO, and we wanted to establish a fund to provide opportunities for young Double Bass players in the Lincolnshire Music Service who share Siân’s passion for music and the arts. We have raised money for the Fund through collections at concerts and fundraising raffles/activities, along with generous donations from friends, supporters and Siân’s family.
Our initial objective was to sponsor places at Lincolnshire County Youth Orchestra & Lincoln Area Youth Orchestra to help fund young people to follow in Sian’s footsteps & participate in the groups that Sian loved and valued on the double bass. Awards have been made in previous years for County Group residential courses & annual County Group fees. This year, supported by Lincolnshire Music Service, we are delighted to sponsor two young potential future members of County Groups by offering a bursary for double bass lessons provided by LMS in their school. We need players starting lessons & being inspired to join future County Group orchestral playing.
We will be continuing to raise money throughout the coming years to enable this wonderful legacy to continue in Siân’s memory.
